The Keys to a Successful Meditation Practice
The purpose of meditation is to familiarize our mind with the insights and aspirations that naturally produce happiness. Done regularly, those peaceful states of mind—such as love, compassion and wisdom—naturally imbue everyday life. We become more confident and joyful, skilled at dealing with adversity, and beneficial to others. We begin to experience our life as something magical, filled with great meaning and purpose.
In this series, we will learn the essential components of a successful meditation practice, gain experience through guided meditations and establish a practice at our own level of understanding so we can truly enjoy meditation’s life-changing benefits. Everyone is welcome.

“My flight was canceled. I cracked my phone. I poked myself in the eye. Hey, that’s okay with me!”
Buddha said, “Adverse conditions are mere imputations by conceptual minds that label them ‘adverse’; they do not exist inherently. When we understand this, the difficulties we meet will no longer cause anxiety and frustration or interrupt our practice of Dharma.”
In this five-week class, we’ll explore a full tool kit for facing life's difficulties by challenging our ingrained reactions to unwanted situations and circumstances.
This online-only class is available only to members. Please join using the Center’s member link. Zoom link will be sent to all members via email. Attendance is free and no registration is required. If you don’t get the email by the first of the month, please contact epc@brooklynmeditation.org
Buddhist Book Club
Looking for a deeper understanding of Buddha's teachings that speaks directly to the heart? Join us Wednesday evenings as we study The Mirror of Dharma, the final book written by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. It covers the entire Lamrim—a series of meditations that guide us along the path to enlightenment—along with essential Buddhist teachings such as how to meditate and how to cultivate compassion.
Each week is a self-contained class focusing on one section, so feel free to join any time. However, it is helpful to attend consistently so you can enjoy a comprehensive understanding of the book. By engaging in deep study of a text, we can profoundly improve our meditation practice and daily life.
No Class on Nov. 26th.
Free for members / $12 non-members / Optional Discussion after class 8:15-845pm!
Friday Night In
We are always looking to go “out”, but happiness can only be found “within”. When we realize this truth, we can relax, knowing we can enjoy inner peace whenever we want.
Spend time with us on Friday evenings for an alternative getaway. Each night we will offer a simple, short teaching and meditation. Afterwards, we can relax and hang out with snacks. Everyone is welcome!

Heal Your Past, Create Your Future
We have all difficulties in our past that seem to shape our future. But we don’t need to be fatalistic. Through the power of meditation, we can change everything.
This series offers a clear, step-by-step approach to facing the past with honesty. When we confront these truths directly, we take ownership of our lives. We’ll explore how to let go of denial, repression and inauthentic “positivity” so we can create the future we want for ourselves and others. Each week will provide practical methods for weaving these new insights into daily life. Everyone is welcome!
