Beach Body? Beach Mind!
Never mind a beach body, what we want is a beach mind—a mind that feels peaceful and content no matter what the circumstances. This class will introduce a new meditation every Sunday morning that will help you feel calm on the cushion and happy the rest of the week, whether you’re spending your summer at the beach or the office.
Free for members / $15 per class non-member • Teacher: Anne Kadet
Monday Evenings • 7 pm – 8:30 pm
Meditations for Creating and Deepening Happiness
Meditation gives us tools to create a deep inner peace. Within that peace we can discover powerful, positive states of mind. Join us this summer for Monday evening meditations that will help us create the happiness we usually look for outside ourselves.
Free for members / $15 non-members • Teacher: Bill Mabe
Wednesday Evenings Special • July 10-31 • 7 pm – 8 pm
Diving into Meditation
Creating a stable meditation practice can be difficult, especially if we’re new or have established a pattern of inconsistency. In this four-class series, we will learn how to develop a mindset conducive to creating a regular meditation routine, and increase the peace and happiness we derive from our practice.
Free for members / $10 suggested donation non-members • Teacher: Sumit Som
Wednesday Evenings • 7 pm – 8 pm
Buddhism for Daily Life
PLEASE NOTE: This class will meet on June 19 & 26, July 3 and all Wednesdays in August.
Buddhism offers both profound wisdom and deeply practical advice, which means it can improve our daily lives starting today. This weekly, one-hour class is a great way to begin. Each class contains a meditation, practical instruction and time for questions. Each week focuses on a specific topic:
1st Wednesday of the Month: Overcoming Attachment and Addiction
2nd Wednesday of the Month:: Sanity on the Job
3rd Wednesday of the Month: Dealing With Stress and Anxiety
4th of the Month: Transforming Relationships
Free for members / $10 suggested donation non-members • Teachers: Sumit Som & Michael Repucci
Thursday Evenings • 7:30 pm – 9 pm
Solving Our Problems with Meditation
All of our happiness and suffering begin with the mind. If we don’t learn how to solve our inner problems, our difficulties will never cease. Through meditation, we can get to know ourselves and our own minds, overcome our inner problems and transform our life into a joyful adventure.
Free for members / $15 non-members • Teacher: Maria Rapetskaya
We are located in Boerum Hill at 444 Atlantic Avenue, between Nevins & Bond Streets – a short walk from most major subway lines!
Weekly guided meditations and Buddhist teachings are suitable for both beginners and more advanced meditation practitioners.
Each class is self contained and pre-registration is not required. Some general meditation classes are given as a series, but can also be taken individually. Although it’s most beneficial to engage in the whole series, you're welcome to drop in on a class-by-class basis.
Classes are held every week unless otherwise noted.
No special clothing is necessary, and we offer both chairs and cushions for sitting.
Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to class to sign in and get comfortable. We do our best to start and end on time, and your help is appreciated!
