Geshe Kelsang has said many times that the offering that delights our Spiritual Guides the most is our practice.
Please join us on June 4 to celebrate Venerable Geshe-la's birthday with an offering of our practice and joy in the Dharma!

Geshe-la's Kindness

Our good fortune in meeting the path to enlightenment in our own neighborhoods and in our own language is truly amazing.

Since the Seventies, Geshe Kelsang (86 years old this year!) has devoted every last bit of his time and energy into creating our Kadampa tradition. He has written all our precious Dharma books, translated all the essential practice texts, trained our teachers, created our Kadampa Meditation Centers and Kadampa Buddhist Centers, our retreat centers, created our beautiful Kadampa images, established our Dharma Celebrations and national and international festivals, designed and built our temples, created our three study programs, and, believe it or not, a great deal more! It seems more than coincidence that Geshe-la's birthday, June 4, is also Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day, the day the Buddha himself first began making the dharma available in our world.

In order to repay the kindness that Venerable Geshe-la has shown us by making this possible, let's offer him what he likes the most for his birthday: our own practice as a community!

What would 100% participation look like?

We are hoping to see a great turnout in order to demonstrate that the Dharma is flourishing and that Geshe-la's hard work is appreciated. Please join us!

How will it work?

This Sunday special event will include some advice on how to make the best offering of our practice with the best motivation, a nice meditation, a talk on the good qualities and life of Venerable Geshe Kelsang and some socializing in our sunny back garden.

We will also have an opportunity to create a wonderful birthday card for Venerable Geshe-la, which we will send to him so that he can know that we, his students in Brooklyn appreciate him and Buddha's teachings!
