Our classes start on time. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class to register and get comfortable.

We are an all-volunteer run organization. Pre-registration, when available, helps us tremendously by lowering our processing fees, helping us staff according to demand and streamlining the check-in process for our class assistants!

Finding Real Security

We look to our jobs, routines and relationships for stability, but all too often they let us down. Where does real security come from? Buddha taught that a stable mind of inner peace is the real source of security that will never let us down. In this course we will explore lamrim meditations that teach us why true security can only be found within the mind. Once we realize this, we can find happiness and meaning in ourselves, our relationships and everything we do. Series begins on March 10.

Meditations to Heal Relationships

Our relationships mean everything to us. But often, painful states of mind such as insecurity, anger and boredom threaten to undermine our bonds and prevent us from using them to make meaningful progress on the spiritual path. In this class, we will learn how to develop pure love for others so that our relationships bring out our best qualities and provide endless opportunities for spiritual growth.

Buddhism for Daily Life

Buddhism offers both profound wisdom and deeply practical advice.That means Buddhism can improve our daily lives starting today. This weekly, one-hour class is a great way to start. It features meditation, practical instruction and time for questions and answers. Each week will have its own focus as follows:

Every 1st Wednesday of the month: Freedom from Attachment and Addiction
Every 2nd Wednesday of the month: Sanity on the Job
Every 3rd Wednesday of the month: Overcoming Stress and Anxiety
Every 4th Wednesday of the month: Transforming Our Relationships

“Meditate every day.” It’s easy to say but difficult to do, even for experienced practitioners. This class can help. It includes methods for overcoming obstacles—including those we create in our own minds. Learn more about how the mind works and receive practical tips on motivation, time management and concentration. Living Meaningfully, Dying Joyfully

Meeting Death with Grace, Clarity and Fearlessness

What happens at death? How can we prepare? This series will help us understand what happens at the time of death and beyond, so we are able to die with confidence. These classes will also help us to understand how the practice of Powa, or transference of consciousness, can benefit those who have passed away. Everyone welcome.

  • We are located in Boerum Hill at 444 Atlantic Avenue, between Nevins & Bond Streets – a short walk from most major subway lines!

  • Weekly guided meditations and Buddhist teachings are suitable for both beginners and more advanced meditation practitioners.

  • Each class is self contained and pre-registration is not required. Some general meditation classes are given as a series, but can also be taken individually. Although it’s most beneficial to engage in the whole series, you're welcome to drop in on a class-by-class basis.

  • Classes are held every week unless otherwise noted.

  • No special clothing is necessary, and we offer both chairs and cushions for sitting.

  • Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to class to sign in and get comfortable. We do our best to start and end on time, and your help is appreciated!
