Free for everyone!

Kadam Matthew Riechers

April 15th is Buddha's Enlightenment Day.

Every year we celebrate this event with the traditional two-day fasting purification known as Nyungne, using the practice called Drop of Essential Nectar. During this practice we emphasize compassion—the essence of enlightenment—by engaging in prostrations to 1,000-Armed Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion.

Each day will begin with the taking of the eight Mahayana precepts at 7 am. There will be three sessions each day: 7 am, 10:30 am and 3:30 pm Friday/3 pm Saturday. Everyone is welcome to participate, but taking the precepts in the morning is required to participate in later sessions.

For further information about precepts, please read more here.
