Making the Commitment to Change: The Bodhisattva Vow
Saturday, June 15 • 11:30 am – 3 pm (with break)
Free for members • $30 for non-members
Teacher: Kadam Matthew Riechers
Taking the Bodhisattva Vow is an extraordinary expression of confidence in our potential to change, and of our love and compassion for others. In taking the Bodhisattva Vow, we commit ourselves to never abandon others and to always strive to improve ourselves so that we may benefit and protect them. Please join us for an in-depth explanation of this joyful way of life and how making this commitment can fulfill our deepest wishes for ourselves and others. Those who wish will have the opportunity to take the Bodhisattva vow.
We are an all-volunteer run organization. Pre-registration for non-members lowers our processing fees, helps staff according to demand and streamlines the check-in process for our class assistants!
We are located in Boerum Hill at 444 Atlantic Avenue, between Nevins & Bond Streets – a short walk from most major subway lines!
Weekly guided meditations and Buddhist teachings are suitable for both beginners and more advanced meditation practitioners.
Each class is self contained and pre-registration is not required. Some general meditation classes are given as a series, but can also be taken individually. Although it’s most beneficial to engage in the whole series, you're welcome to drop in on a class-by-class basis.
Classes are held every week unless otherwise noted.
No special clothing is necessary, and we offer both chairs and cushions for sitting.
Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to class to sign in and get comfortable. We do our best to start and end on time, and your help is appreciated!
